After 28 years of farming organically – without chemicals and artificial fertilisers and routine antibiotics – the farm now hosts 86 different bird species, the soil holds 50% more carbon and 75% more organic matter.
Brother & sister team, Graham & Caroline have a mix breed herd of cows, suited to producing high quality milk with creamy flavour, instead of large volumes. The herd took part in the study by University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, which showed organic milk was naturally higher in Omega 3 & antioxidants.

Acorn Dairy and Hanover Dairies have collaborated for nearly 20 years, to bring local doorstep customers an organic milk they can be proud to feed to their families and customers.
Their dairy is still located in the same place it was founded back in 1939. They have been processing and delivering milk from Stamford Road in the Birkdale, Southport ever since. Over the years the dairy has changed and grown quite a bit but still maintains the family traditions and work ethos that has helped the business grow to where it is today.

They distribute through temperature-controlled trailers which are company owned.
The processing equipment is also used for milk production on separate days. A full CIP of the equipment and filler is carried out before the milk or juice processing.
The business grew quickly and by 1943 the business relocated to Cotteswold Road in Tewkesbury, from which the dairy took its name ‘Cotteswold Dairy’. The dairy’s good reputation spread and in 1961 it first began delivery in Cheltenham. It was in 1969 that the business relocated to its present site at Northway Lane in Tewkesbury.
They proudly and responsibly source fresh British milk from their local farming community, reducing carbon footprint where they can. All their farms are within a 60-mile radius of the production site in Tewkesbury and are required to have Red Tractor Certification as well as other certifications (where applicable), such as Organic Certification for Organic milk. These certifications ensure that farmers have strict environmental rules they should abide by, meaning that the environmental impact of their farming is kept to a minimum.
It is now solely a dairy farm, producing and processing high quality milk and milk products. Their herd of dairy cattle is their pride and joy, and their welfare is of upmost importance to them.
The cows are milked on the farm and processed in the adjoining building to produce a wide range of dairy products including milk, cream, butter and flavoured milk.
They also have SALSA accreditation (Safe and Local Suppliers Approval). This gives full traceability on all their products.
95% of their milk is collected from within 25 miles of their dairy and they take great pride in working with some of the North East’s best dairy farmers, who they know and trust and who work to the highest standards of animal welfare.

The Austin family started out at Upper Houses Farm in 1955 and have always carried out a mixed farming operation of dairy, beef and arable. With a growing family to provide for, an opportunity arose in 1991 to purchase a milk round. After purchasing additional rounds, in 1992 the family decided to diversify and invest in a small processing plant. Lanchester Dairies was born!
They have continued to upgrade processing equipment and reinvest year on year back into the business. The most recent upgrade in 2016 increased the dairy’s processing capacity to more than 3.5 million litres per week. They produce a great quality, Oxfordshire free range egg, where you can have absolute confidence in the free-range farming. Their eggs are collected by hand each day and then move to the egg packing centre. Here, the eggs are checked for quality, stamped with their unique producer number, separated by size and packed into either trays or pre-pack boxes. They are members of the ‘Laid in Britain’ assurance scheme which offers the highest standards of food safety and bird welfare. Laid in Britain is a viable alternative to the Lion Brand used by supermarkets and membership ensures compliance with stringent health and safety regulations.
On arrival it is tested to ensure its’ quality meets their rigorous standards before being pasteurised and packaged.

A family run business, they started producing free range eggs in 2004 and have been building the business ever since, moving to Chatton Park Farm in 1985.
To ensure good quality eggs, the hens live in small houses and are let out every day. They have more than 20 acres of grass to roam in. All the eggs on the farm are stamped with a unique code which can be traced back to the farm.
All eggs are produced to the BEIC Lion Assurance and RSPCA Freedom Food Standards.
